SOUS CHEF, NATHAN SHAPIRO 
Cooking was a constant for Nathan Shapiro in high school, in college at Virginia Tech and even upon graduation as a history teacher for troubled youth. In addition to whatever he was doing, he always held a position in a kitchen. Recognizing his calling, he chose to enroll in classes at the New England Culinary Institute to formalize his training. Since obtaining his culinary degree, Shapiro gained experience at Les Nomades in Chicago and The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia. He also has staged at Alinea and Mini Bar. Working now with Chef King, his interest is in utilizing modern techniques and the freshest local ingredients to present the guests of The Ashby with a singular dining experience.
